PETERSEN MEDIA: With the off season seemingly coming and going in the blink of an eye, Parker Price-Miller kicked his first full season off with Destiny Motorsports in Ocala, FL with the All Star Circuit of Champions over the weekend and got off to a nice start as he recorded a pair of Top-Five finishes.
“We definitely had some really good speed in Ocala, FL and it is a testament to how hard everyone worked this winter,” Parker Price-Miller said. “I made some mistakes on my end, but overall it was a great start to the season and it has us all excited to get going at Volusia this week.”
Thursday night the curtain went up on the 2018 season, and PPM kicked started things by timing the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Townline Variety backed No. 4 machine in second quickest in his qualifying group and seventh quickest overall.
Racing his way to a second place finish in his heat race coming from his fourth starting position, Price-Miller would move into the Dash where the win put him on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.
Getting off to a nice start, Price-Miller was able to fend off challenges from Tony Stewart as he continued to lead the way. On this night, the caution flag would be needed on several occasions and it never allowed the race to get into a flow and led to several restarts.
Continuing to lead the way, Price-Miller would soon feel pressure from a surging Chad Kemenah late in the race. Losing the lead following a late restart, Price-Miller would then drop low to try and reclaim the top spot but it would result in a couple of more positions lost.
Falling back as far as sixth, PPM would work his way forward to end up finishing fourth.
Back in action again on Friday night at Bubba Raceway Park, the Kokomo, IN driver would again get off to another strong start as he again would time in second quickest in his qualifying group and seventh fastest overall.
Finishing second in his heat race, PPM would again move into the Dash where he would line up on the outside front row. Pushing out for the race, trouble would arise and issues would keep the team off the track and relegate them to a fifth place finish would lined them up ninth in the feature event.
On an extremely slick and abrasive surface, the track would take rubber early and Price-Miller would settle into the 10th spot aboard the Agee Farms/CSI Shocks/Triple X backed entry. With passing quickly becoming non-existent, PPM would continue to hit his marks as he took the checkered flag with a 10th place finish.
Saturday night would cap the initial race weekend of the season, and Price-Miller and the Destiny Motorsports team continued a strong start to the season as PPM would time in second fastest overall and second quickest in his qualifying group.
On a fast surface early in the evening, PPM would finish fourth in his heat race but based on being second quickest overall he would move into the Dash where a win would put him on the outside front row of the 30-lap feature event.
Settling into the third spot when the green flag was displayed to the field, PPM kept up a nice pace as he chased after Sheldon Haudenschild and Tyler Clem as the leaders quickly found the rear of the field.
Running in dense traffic, the battle inside the Top-Five would become action packed as PPM would actually fall as far bask as seventh at one point during the race.
Staying patient, PPM would come to life in the race’s waning laps as he was able to make the top side work and pick up a couple of positions as he closed his weekend out with a fifth place finish, his second Top-Five of the weekend.”
