PETERSEN MEDIA: Building off a strong start to the 2018 season at Bubba Raceway Park last weekend, Parker Price-Miller and Destiny Motorsports continued to run well at Volusia Speedway Park with the All Star Circuit of Champions and the World of Outlaws. Despite having some bad luck hamper his results, PPM was able to end his DIRTcar Nationals with a 10th place finish on Sunday night.
“The DIRTcar Nationals is one of the toughest fields around, and to make two dashes and really have some good speed is a great way to start off this season,” Price-Miller said. “We definitely have the speed to contend, we just have to put full nights together.”
Wednesday and Thursday ran under All Star Circuit of Champions sanction and PPM would open his 2018 DIRTcar Nationals up by timing the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Townline Variety backed No. 4 machine in 5th in his group which would put him in the fifth starting spot in his heat race.
Finishing eighth in his heat, the Kokomo, IN driver would line up in the fifth row of the semi. As he was able to reel in the group of cars battling for the final transfer position into the feature event, PPM would see his night get cut short as he would take the checkered flag in the seventh position.
Thursday night saw the team get off to a much better start as Price-Miller jump started the night by timing the Agee Farms/CSI Race Shocks/Triple X machine in second quickest in his group before slipping back to finish sixth in his heat race.
Able to fight through the semi on this night, Price-Miller would pick up a third place finish which moved him into the 30-lap feature event where he would grid the field from the field from the 23rd starting position.
With the track slick and abrasive prior to the feature event, an extensive re work took place and really threw a curve ball at all competitors. Unsure if the track would blow the moisture off quickly or stay hooked up, some calculated risks would be imminent on feature set up.
As the race came to life, it was soon apparent that the moisture would hold and the track would stay extremely fast for the feature event. With everyone at the same speed, passing from the back would prove to be tough. Holding strong and picking up what he could, the Kokomo, IN driver would end the All Star portion of the DIRTcar Nationals with a 20th place finish.
Friday night brought on the season opener for the 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and PPM would get off to another nice start as he would time the Chalk Stix/Champion Brand Lubricants/All Star Performance entry in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials.
Able to pick up the win in heat race action, Price-Miller advanced to the Dash where a seventh place finish put him in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, a wreck on the opening lap would result in some minimal damage to the left sideboard on the Destiny Motorsports machine.
At the high-speed Volusia Speedway Park, the damage would worsen lap after lap, and Price-Miller would see the sideboard collapse and become removed from the belly late in the race while running in the 10th spot.
Going to the work area, the Destiny Motorsports crew would quickly work to get a new wing atop the car, and PPM would restart from the tail end of the field and salvage a 17th place finish.
Timing in 11th quickest on Saturday night, PPM would finish fourth in his heat which placed him in the eight row for the impending 30-lap affair. Having one of those nights, PPM would be involved in a couple of cautions with the second one culminating with a flat tire.
Making repairs, PPM would again restart from the tail end of the field where he would finish 23rd on this night.
The DIRTcar Nationals finale would prove to be the best night for the youngster from Indiana and the Destiny Motorsports team.
Timing in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials, PPM would finish second in his heat race before a second place finish placed him on the front row of the 30-lap finale of a grueling Florida Speedweeks.
Battling in the top-five early in the race, Price-Miller would shuffle back as traffic came into play on the wicked fast ½ mile. Able to stay inside the Top-10, PPM closed the trip out with his fourth Top-10 finish of the young 2018 season.
“Leaving Florida, we are all pretty happy with what we learned and are eager to hit the track in Texas in a few weeks,” Price-Miller added. “I really have to thank Rick and Barb Rogers as well as all of our partners for allowing us to get out here and race with the best. I also have to thank Noisey, Junior, and Kevin for their hard work during a busy stretch in Florida.”
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft.
