PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the Inaugural Sprint Car World Championship at Mansfield Speedway, Parker Price-Miller and Destiny Motorsports would have an eventful weekend that culminated with Price-Miller finishing 11th in the Saturday night feature event.
“We had an awesome racecar all weekend long, but Saturday night we just couldn’t seem to catch a break in the feature,” Parker Price-Miller said. “Noisey and Kevin worked their tails off and we had a lot of fun.”
Friday night’s preliminary night kicked off with Price-Miller earning quick time honors aboard the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Townline Variety entry over the 71 cars that took a time.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, a questionable start would be detrimental to PPM as it would see him lose several positions and end up finishing sixth and forcing him to the night’s first ‘B’ Main.
Able to win the semi, Price-Miller would move into the ‘Odd’ Feature event where he would grid the field from 17th needing to finish inside the Top-4 to lock himself into Saturday night’s $100,000-to-win Feature event.
Despite a rain shower delaying the start of the program, the surface would prove to be extremely racy and Price-Miller would flex his muscle from the back of the pack. Working his way forward, PPM would get stronger as the laps clicked off.
Getting into the Top-Five, the Kokomo, IN driver would chase after Joey Saldana who held the final lock-in spot to Saturday’s feature event. Closing in on Saldana on the race’s final lap Price-Miller couldn’t quite get to him to attempt a pass and closed his night out with a run from 17th to fifth.
Gridding the field from the front row of his heat race on Saturday night, PPM would take care of business and win the heat, which successfully put him in the feature event and gave him a spot in the redraw.
Pulling the nine pill, Price-Miller would grid the field from the fifth row for the 50-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, PPM would slip back to 12th in the opening laps but he would remain calm and collected with it being a long feature event. Racing his way back into the Top-10, contact with another car would send PPM into a spin cycle down the front straightaway but he was able to keep it under power though he would find himself again back in 12th.
With a strong car under him, ‘The Law Firm’ would battle his way back inside the Top-10 before he slowed for what would be the first of two times with a flat tire.
Able to restart, Price-Miller would do a great job of battling some stiff competition as he got back into 10th only to see another flat forced him back into the work area.
Getting held in the pits this time, PPM would see the yellow waive after the field completed a lap and would return to the race just one lap down.
Showing great speed in the closing laps and being the eighth car across the finish line, being a lap down would result in PPM finishing 11th.
“Saturday night was eventful, but nobody on our team gave up or got discouraged,” Price-Miller added. “I have to thank my guys as well as Rick and Barb Rogers for all of the effort and support. We have a good thing going right now and I am excited to get back to racing this weekend.”
