PETERSEN MEDIA: Finally able to sneak in some racing action as rain continues to saturate the Midwest, Terry McCarl and Destiny Motorsports made the trip to US 36 on Friday night worth it as TMAC picked up his third feature event win of the 2019 season.
“It was a great battle with Paul Nienhiser, and fortunately we were able to get the best of him and grab the win,” McCarl said. “Our Don Long/Moyle engine runs great, and was crucial on Friday night.”
Having an unfavorable pill draw for his heat race, the Altoona, IA driver didn’t let it hinder him as he made his presence known early on this night as he forged the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/TheSnowPlow.Com backed entry to the front as he picked up the win in convincing fashion.
Moving into the feature event redraw, TMAC would pull the four pill which placed him in the second row of the ‘A’. Working into second, McCarl would give chase to Jack Dover in the early laps until an issue in traffic would put McCarl out front.
Holding the top spot until lap 13, traffic would get the best of him as Paul Nienhiser would use it to his advantage and relegate McCarl back to second. Just after falling back to second, the red flag would fly and give McCarl a restart with open track to try and get back up front.
Using veteran savvy, McCarl would make it happen on the restart as he was able to get back out front, but it would not be easy for the last portion of the race. Hooking up in an entertaining battle with Nienhiser, McCarl would get the better end of the deal as he raced to his third feature event win of the season.
“That was a really fun race,” McCarl added. “We got hooked up in an awesome battle with Paul Nienhiser, and we were able to get the better end of the deal and grab another win. Thanks to Rick and Barb Rogers for all of their support in 2019, and a big thanks to all of our partners and crew help for working so hard.”
