PETERSEN MEDIA: Amidst a very strong run of great finishes, Terry McCarl and Destiny Motorsports are geared up for a big weekend of action at Knoxville Raceway as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Series heads to Marion County on Friday and Saturday night.
“We are having a great run right now, and hopefully we can keep it up this weekend when the Outlaws come to town,” McCarl said. “Friday night we were really good in Grand Forks, ND, but it took rubber late and we slipped back to seventh.”
Traveling to the always exciting River Cites Speedway, TMAC got off to a great start as he timed the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/TheSnowPlow.com backed No. 4 machine in fifth quickest in time trials.
A very entertaining heat race saw McCarl in a torrid battle for the second and final Dash spot. Running a strong race, TMAC would hold the spot and move into the Fast Pass Dash where his sixth place finish put him in the third row of the 40-lap feature event.
Amidst a great run in the feature event, McCarl would battle for position inside the Top-Five on the slick racing surface that was abused by high winds for much of the day. As the race drew to a close and rubber began going down, McCarl was just too tight and slipped back a couple positions but still hung on to a Top-10 by way of his seventh place finish.
One week removed from his return to Knoxville Raceway victory lane, McCarl and company returned the famed speedway for one final tune up before this week’s Outlaw tilt at the speedway.
Going out dead last for time trials, McCarl would muster the seventh quickest lap of the night before finishing second in his heat race.
Moving into the feature event, the Altoona, IA resident would take Doug Clark’s green flag from the fifth starting position, and quickly began working his way forward as he chased after Brian Brown.
Making some nice moves on the ½ mile speed plant, TMAC would work his way into the second position, where he would finish, and cap off a great weekend for Destiny Motorsports.
